Pigeons irritate me this morning however their glide scatters sun rays from my rectangular East Coast black glasses. I am singing Marvin Gaye through wrap around my ear phones; a neighbor approaches me to dance for a brighter day. Parrots invade the area to stare at me.
"I am not a pirate; I do not carry a bounty for you."
One hops onto my sneaker bidding me to remove my shades; I do and he tilts a leafy green head. He knows what I am.
"Okay you can come with me but don't tell anybody."
Quasi is uglier than ever I admit to my winged partner riding inside of my Burton backpack. He peaks for a look; his wisdom ensures me Moto is a dependable man as myself.
"I love him anyways..."
We walk through the city aisles of library towers together, a parrot on my shoulder, bike chained to the corner, and not a person seems to notice.
"Did you see that?"
Cruising inside my madness we stop at Uncle Moe's bodega.
"I'm a pirate."
"Where is your hook?"
"On a mixer at our apartment."
"Scratch this record for me..."
Little Black Raincloud by Walt Disney
I named my feathers after a son deceived by brothers, Isaac; the story is available at your local library inside a book called history.
"Do you think I will ever be able to fly?"
Possibly a metaphorical question as he teaches me how he does his thing. This guy can really move!
"You like Aretha Franklin? All she wanted was a little respect you know what I'm saying?"
He gets down while Mighty is a stoned man posing for sculpture; Michelangelo is missing in action, I decide clay will be appropriate.
"Wow is that me?"
"That's what you get for sitting still."
"Do you like it?"
Isaac is confused between likeness; he looks to me for confirmation.
"He's the one on the left."
Zoomy is my colleague for the seas we set sail inside many calenders underneath an empty book block. His baby blue companion is named Elijah; they greet each other with a secret handshake. Who is hiding a snake underneath his sweatshirt; there is a wiggling motion over his belly. You Know is on his knees laughing hysterical wickedness; he named his friend Eve. Mouse is chasing his nickname for anatomy all over the floor.
"I found him!"
Ezekial is white with orange spots sleeping next to black scales without a hammer amongst grassy fields of cloudless sky angels.
"We got to make them a part of us forever."
"Yikes knows about the connection."
"I miss Catrixenya..."
"I miss Nadia..."
"How did you figure out their names?"
"A little bird told us."
We understand nature conflicts our indoor dwelling; we continue our exploration outdoors. Girls surround us with incidental flirtatious exclamatory sentences. Isaac is cool but I can no longer take the heat; the sun is my face. Running to a flying leap we both jump a fence into Pookah's neighborhood.
"You got a parrot!"
She prepares evaporated cane juice with warm coconut milk oatmeal.
"What about me?"
"You are not a parrot."
"What if I was one?"
"Then you should be able to make it for yourself; you saw the recipe."
Zoomy meets me at the bus stop to discuss our concerns.
"Now that we know their names they must know ours."
"I know how I want her to look like..."
"Me too..."
"I know I want her in my arms."
"I want to be married to her forever."
"This is not a dream."
"We don't know the difference."
"Do you think we ever will?"
Isaac and Elijah speak amongst themselves underneath a spotlight from heaven.
"I think they got a plan."
"They should let us in on it."
We both look to them for spirit but they turned into men.
"Aw shit did we eat those mushrooms Mighty left on the poker table?"
"No but you still owe me thirty-two dollars."
"You are not tripping!"
"Forget about the money!"
"Fuck dude seriously we must of drank that purple shit without knowing it."
"I told you not to mix Fly with Poppy Tonic."
"You are not hallucinating!"
"You are not under the influence!"
"What are you fellas here for?"
"Can you fellas tell us what we are here for?"
"Trial and tribulation..."
"Justice and freedom..."
"Damn it I knew he wasn't a parrot."
"No shit..."
