Morning sun blinding blur of yesterday already forgotten; rest of the day dragging along with this guy that keeps on talking. Am I supposed to be polite, pay attention, or just keep walking, following me around seems to want to tell me something...
"Well spit it out you got a load to drop with that big mouth or do you always go on about nothing?"
"Well you see there was what I saw that really bothered me, thought you would want to listen..."
"Go ahead then you know I'm interested..."
He starts with a moan deep below his voice, face changes into the expression of remorse, like another person showed up to tell the story cause the one that was rambling never knew the difference. Must of been a dark Gemini effect, the other personality took over when the first one left; do we really possess a side that nobody expects?
"Here comes the train now get on with it or just forget the whole thing..."
"Alright, alright you don't got to tell me twice. I know I'm a stranger but you could try to be nice."
This guy's smile reminds me of a stab in the back, instead of taking off....
"What happened.....?"
He starts looking around hesitating, checking out the night's tunnel; nobody seems to want to be around for this one except a lady in a little black dress with a briefcase staring in a mirror reflecting off the exit.
"Hey so I knew this fella from a job, sort of liked him, not enough to call him a friend. We went out one night, he paid for the shots, I got so drunk when we left the parking lot I thought I was dreaming that's when it all started..."
"The train is late," the lady says while she slips something out her boot and flips her dreads.
"Did you see that guy? He was just standing there! The one with the necklace and the crazy beard?''
Right then the doors open...
"You first..."
I hustle into a bench; top of her head almost hits the roof, she got to lean just to get in...
"This whole day been a puzzle, know what I mean?"
"Did you find any pieces?"
"No still feeling out of place..."
"Everyone wanders, that's how we find where we belong."
I pull the pen and pad out of my backpack....
"I got to write all this down."
"Don't even bother..."
"How come?"
"Everything in here is about to turn red."
"Then I could not remember but when I woke up he was dead. When do you think my nightmare will end? I thought telling you would make me feel better but I feel like hell instead."
Longest ride I been on....not going anywhere at all.
She snaps the latches opening the big black book revealing a goblet made of gold. Light flickers, strobing abstract portraits of movement in the dark, chocolate cords whipping standing still with intervals of a shining spade indifferent to the fortune of her roast. Madness fills the air with laughter as our box comes to a halt. Dawn peaks through the stairwell, I notice people on their way to work. Silence summons me to look around at everything covered in blood.
